Dear Friends:
Please tell me you're hanging on as the weirdest year of most of our lives winds down. I wish you the best as we ride it out.
Books Make Great Gifts
If you're still shopping for holiday presents, I made a little gift guide because books make great
gifts!
Wellness Tip
Paranoid Ex-Lawyer's Release & Disclosure: I am not a parent. Still, when any parent asks me how to cope during this odd "school year" my advice is to JUST KEEP THEM ALIVE! Most kids only need to know they are
loved—no matter what. The same goes for the parents and the teachers. Deep breaths all around. JUST KEEP YOURSELF ALIVE TOO!
She's Just Showing Off
But I am a parent to several books! My first-born, Depression Hates a Moving Target, just earned another category best-seller badge on Amazon. If you recently picked up
a copy, THANK YOU! Keep dreaming folks and keep moving forward. Dreams do come true.
I Still Run
I continue to dabble in low heart-rate training. Some days my "run" involves a lot of walking. I don't mind. I'm always grateful to be upright and moving forward.
If you use running as part of your mental health toolkit, check out Still I Run, a nonprofit for that cause. I'm running their Breaking the Stigma in Stride virtual New Year's 5k. I hope you'll consider it.
Also, I'm not sure I can ever say enough good things about the folks at ChiRunning. The ChiRunning philosophy appeals to the meditator in me. And their injury-prevention techniques keep the "I wanna run forever" part of me happy too. Doug Dapo teaches here in central Ohio.
Join Our Facebook Group
We're still at it over on Facebook in the Mind, Mood, and Movement group with two hundred members. I continue to offer writing practice, mindfulness
meditation, and movement as wellness tools, with occasional challenges. And yes, unicorns.
Brave Women: Revelatory Memoirs
I mentioned this in my last email, but I hope you won't miss it:
Friday, December 18th at noon PT / 3pm ET - Brave Women: Revelatory Memoirs with Marlena
Fiol and yours truly. In this discussion hosted by the San Francisco Chapter of the Women's National Book Association, Marlena and I will explain what prompted us to overcome difficulties and why we chose to write about it. Register early as spots are limited.
Reviews
I'm humbled and awed by the number of positive ratings and reviews that flowed in after my last email. THANK YOU SO MUCH! If you haven't had a chance to leave a positive review or rating
for Depression Hates a Moving Target and You Should Be Writing it's never too late. I had no idea how important reviews were until I had books of my own.
