Dear :
In the ebook, Three Ways to Heal Your Mind, I place "writing practice," the Zen-based writing method originated by best-selling author Natalie Goldberg, high on my list of go-to activities when things feel tough.
And remember Jason Didner, that musician who included a clip of Scarlet and I running in the music video to his song "Run with My Troubles?"
Well, Jason and I wrote a song together about writing practice!
Jason read Three Ways to Heal Your Mind while working on his new album Salt and Sand. It inspired him to subtitle the album "Rock Songs to Heal the Mind" and moved him to include a song about writing practice. He invited me to collaborate on the lyrics. Our work together resulted in "A Different Kind of Zen" and my first credit as a songwriter!
Using my photos of Taos, New Mexico where I studied with Natalie, and Ed and I lived for three years, Jason created this lyric video. The song and video are an homage to Natalie and writing practice.
Jason generously allowed me to give you inner circle folks a chance to see the video and hear the song early, before he drops the new album this Friday.
Here's your sneak peek:
"A DIFFERENT KIND OF ZEN"
You're also invited to a livestreamercafe concert Friday, February 4th at 7:30pm ET to watch Jason and Kris Pride play live. They'll perform songs from Salt and Sand including "A Different Kind of Zen" and
"Run with My Troubles."
Expect some covers as well as more of Jason's many original songs, perhaps even "You Can't Get There from Here in Jersey" which was featured on the Click and Clack show years ago! Jason's a fun, low-key guy with lots of musical talent and a big heart. Plus, a portion of the proceeds will go to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
I hope you enjoy the video and maybe I'll "see" you (in the chat) Friday!
Take care.
~ Nita
WE WENT OUTSIDE!
After miles and miles and MILES of house jogging both upstairs and in the basement, the pupperina and I finally got to run outside when the weather changed and it warmed up a bit. The next storm will soon roll in, but we were so grateful for the chance to breathe fresh air and feel pavement instead of carpet and hardwood floors beneath our paws. We did our little movement meditation Instagram video to celebrate.
How's your movement going? I always enjoy hearing about it.
